"Finding the Right Piece for your Organizational Puzzle; Improving your Interviews"

Summary:  Sometimes hiring decisions that seem right at the time can drive you crazy later on.  Advertising, recruiting, hiring, and mentoring new employees constitutes some of the most important and challenging skills needed by organizational managers.  Wanting to build a harmonious and productive business culture means that employers need to be skillful hiring managers.  This presentation will provide concrete strategies for improving your organization's job searches and finding employees that successfully fit into your organizational puzzle.

Objectives:

  1.  Examine common interviewing errors and consequences of poor hiring decisions
  2.  Discuss how biases and interview fallacies can negatively impact the hiring process
  3.  Examine the use of unconventional interview questions
  4.  Provide hiring recommendations to ensure improved hiring decisions

    Presenter:  Krystal Brue

Krystal Brue is an Associate Professor of Management, Chair of the Department of Business, and Assistant Dean at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.  Her Ph.D. is in Business Administration, and she has over 25 years of human resource, organizational behavior, and training and development experience.  She has presented numerous articles within the Journal of Leadership Education, Administrative Issues Journal, and Journal of Human Resources Education on work-life balance, women in leadership, anti-harassment cultures, and current HR employment trends.
