"Snaps & Snacks -- Promoting HR through Community Engagement and Networking"
Overview: Don't miss this month's meeting; it is different in every way! Yes, we will have a short speaker/presentation, but there will also be yummy lunch-worthy appetizers, and time to get to know other HR professionals, as well as have your headshot taken! That's a lot; but SHRS thinks we all deserve some time to network, have some fun, and promote your professional self. Oh, and please bring some items from the Pantry Partners Wishlist below to donate.
Presenter: Angela Jiménez-Calhoun
Angela Jiménez-Calhoun is the Founder and CEO of Pantry Partners, Inc., an organization dedicated to supporting underserved teens in Norman, Oklahoma. Originally from Oklahoma City, Angela moved to Norman in the 1980s to attend the University of Oklahoma and fell in love with the town’s charm and community spirit.
Angela's diverse career includes teaching middle school math, owning small businesses, and working as a real estate assistant. Her passion for helping youth stems from her early experiences as a teacher and her grandmother's legacy of volunteerism within the Oklahoma City Hispanic community.
In 2011, while her son attended Norman High School, Angela began to realize the extent of teen hunger and homelessness in her community. She volunteered at the school's food pantry and, in 2019, founded Pantry Partners, Inc. to address these issues on a larger scale. Under her leadership, the organization provides food, resources, and support to help teens thrive academically and personally.
Angela’s dedication to service is deeply personal. Together with her husband, Mark, she has been a steadfast advocate for Norman’s youth, creating a nurturing environment for those in need and inspiring others to join the cause.
Yummy lunch-worthy appetizers will be served.
All members and non-members are $25 for this event, which includes a free headshot!
