"Workers' Compensation Insurance Fraud" 

Overview:  The purpose of this presentation is to impart a better understanding of the Workers' Compensation and Insurance Fraud Unit (WCIFU), with the intention of providing knowledge for successful investigations and prosecutions, while setting realistic expectations.   

Topics:

  • State statutes on authority, protections, statute of limitations, and disclosures
  • Obligations to report, including when, how, and to whom
  • Review the mandate, purview, and functions of the WCIFU
  • What the WCIFU looks for throughout the investigative process

      Presenter:  Jamie J. Mata


      Jamie J. Mata is an Investigative Analyst with the Workers' Compensation and Insurance Fraud Unit of the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Oklahoma. As an Investigative Analyst, he intakes, processes, and investigates all referrals and complaints received to determine if the threshold has been met in order to recommend the next stage of the investigative process.

      Jamie also acts as a Liaison and Outreach Coordinator for his Unit. In these roles, he has reached out and developed working partnerships with insurance companies, state agencies/boards, and law enforcement agencies with the purpose of bridging gaps and forming relationships to build better cases for successful investigations and prosecutions.

      Jamie attended East Central University, where he joined Lambda Alpha Epsilon, and he  completed an internship as a Commissioned Police Officer graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. He has also shadowed Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection Agents. 

      A boxed lunch will be served.

      SHRS Members and SHRS Student Members are FREE!

      Non-members and guests are $15.
