    Please join us for our monthly meeting in the Education Center at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Porter Campus. 


    "2020 Vision....What Does the Year Ahead Hold in Store for Employment Law in Oklahoma?"

    Overview:  Take an advance look at the many federal and state employment law changes on the horizon in the year 2020. Highlights will include:

    • Update on the status of medical marijuana in the workplace and the early days of the judicial interpretation of the “safety-sensitive” exception
    • A peek into the EEOC’s evolving view of Title VII’s protections for employees based on sexual orientation
    • An analysis of whether paid family and medical leave will be arriving in the great state of Oklahoma any time soon.  

    Seminar participants will be able to use all of this information to create a better informed workplace that is fully prepared to handle all of the employment law challenges 2020 will throw their way.

    Presenter - Adam Childers, Crowe & Dunlevy

    Adam W. Childers is a director and shareholder at Crowe & Dunlevy, and serves as co-chair of the firm's Labor & Employment Practice Group.  He is currently an Administrative Law Judge at the Oklahoma Department of Labor and a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Order of the Barristers.  One of Adam's highest honors was to be selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America 2016 - 2020 for Labor and Employment Litigation and to be named Oklahoma City 2020 Lawyer of the Year for Employment Law - Management. 

    Since joining Crowe & Dunlevy in 2000, Adam has successfully represented management in cases brought by employees under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Oklahoma's Workers' Compensation laws, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Oklahoma's non-compete and non-solicitation statutes and Oklahoma's Open Meeting and Open Records Acts.**

    In addition to his litigation work for employers, Adam has handled Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Oklahoma Human Rights Commission investigations as well as Oklahoma Employment Security Commission hearings. Adam has experience in jury and bench trials.

    He is very involved in counseling employers who have questions about personnel decisions, ranging from how to properly terminate an employee to the proper procedures for garnishing an employee's paycheck.  Adam also has crafted and revised employment policies for employee handbooks.
